not entirely sure whether the rumour of the burns/stevens trade has been put to bed but rest assured fellow magpies, burns will not be going anywhere.
even though stevens is 7 years younger than burns good clubs do not trade players that form the heart and soul within the playing group.

the last thing the club needs at the moment is a disturbing influence. I feel that trading one of our most respected leaders will have an unsettling effect amongst our youth who are already carrying some mental scars.
The only way these will be overcome is by the core leadership group remaining intact and continuing to do what they have done succesfully over the last couple of years.

To those few that feel that the club must take a business approach to this issue please note: its hard enough replacing a good player given the limitations of the draft, salary cap etc. Its damn near impossible to replace a good player and respected leader.

Let the improvement come from within.

Hey everyone I was wondering if it would be worth the time if we look into getting Ben Holland from Richmond?? tell me what you all think!!

not a bad idea i_love_clokey, i reckon we need a player like holland, he might be able to cover roccas absence. however, i dont think it would be a good idea having 2 guys with the name B.Holland in the one team. could get confusing while reading the stats!

With the amount of room we will have in our salary cap restrictions for next season, with retirements and delistings, I believe, nay we must pick up both Soloman and Stevens at almost whatever cost to our current player list, with a few exemptions of course.

Apart from the recent resignings the only players currently on the list whom I believe to be of good trade value are;
O'Bree(has not quite lived up to to his potential),
Scotland(one of just many midfield types the club has),
McKee(is it possible his time at Collingwood has passed)
and McGough( ball skills brilliant but leg speed to slow for the modern game ie; only good in the wet, apart from when we play geelong)
Richardson(Hhis best has been and gone. We blinked and missed it.)

Yes it would hurt to lose any of these players but to pick up two players of the calibre of Soloman and Stevens, it would be worth it.

Add the experience that the rest of our list has gained over the last four years. Particularly the last two seasons, add the unknown talent of King, Richards, Nixon, Cloke and the others from our list yet to play a senior game and I do believe that if our match comittee get this years draft right, we will not only stop brispainkillinginjections equaling our four in a row record next season but break it ourseleves.

Remember there is 4 years of experience between Collingwood and the Fitzroid liars.

Yeah he did.

In today's H/S it says that Soloman is about to tell the dons that he's leaving. Strike while the irons hot, the Pies are over there (London) & so is he, so get in his ear...

Dont worry about getting in his ear..... get him another beer....

Surely he'll hit the turps with the pie boys and while under the influence sign a 5 year deal for $50k a season....?!?!

In fact, i think it should be mandatory that players have had at least 3 hours of solid liquid intake prior to contract negotiations...

B17,
The way players names are thrown about like frisbees by clubs and managers at draft time, you wouldn't hold it against them if they needed a stiff drink or two.... or three

Ok people I wouldn't get hopes up over Solomon, if he decides to leave Sheedy will rort whoever he goes to for every penny he's worth plus more. I think its a case if we don't wanto disturb our playing group too much we are going to have to settle for one of either Stevens or Solomon, and who knows we may not get either. I'd have to say I'd prefer Stevens cause he reminds me abit of a young Bucks. On a side note, if Solomon declares he wants to be a tiger I will find it totally baffling if they can find a trade for both Brown and Solomon. They have a totally dirt, ageing list bar a few players who they wouldnt dream of trading anyway.

Um i was only joking i made that up.......lol

My other prediction is that Hird will take a pay cut in return for Windy Hill being renamed after him to James Turd Oval and will then be named father of the year.
