NBL Game in Tasmania to go ahead

Post by The Prototype »

Victoria Giants Vs Adelaide 36ers will go ahead in Hobart, the deal hit a snag when Adelaide didn't want to travel the day after traveling to Sydney. So the game has been changed so then Adelaide gets a rest before traveling down to Tasmania in January.

I used to be a season ticket holder with the Tasmanian Devils. I assume the game will be played at the Derwent Entertainment Centre. It is a great venue and when packed the atmosphere is electric.

I have been to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to watch the Bullets play but it was full of loud-mouthed prats. The atmosphere was not so good.

Funny how teams didn't mind travelling from anywhere to play in Hobart when they had an almost sure victory against the Devils, isn't it?

I assume you will be going Proto?

Yep, the game will be held at the DEC, there was a plan to have 2 games a year down here (one at the Silverdome and one at the DEC) I don't know what happened to the other game.

I hope to attend the game, I used to watch the Devils play, when my dad was at Ther Mercury, we used to get free tickets. It's a shame the Devils passed away, used to be great watching the games, even if Tassie hardly ever won a game. It was nice seeing players like Andrew Gaze, Shane Heal, etc, play down here.

I don't know if you ever went to Kingborough to watch the Devils. They were great times with Steve Carfino, Jumping Joe Hurst, Jerry Dennard and co. There was a venue with atmosphere but alas it couldn't fit more than 1200 people in to it. In the end the Devils would have struggled to fill even that but might have racked up more wins as the crowd was definitely a factor.
