Fletch wins successive B&F's

A premiership medallion, a Norm Goss Medal and now a second successive Gerry Callahan Medal to win Williamstown's 2003 Best and Fairest Award. It doesn't get much better than that.

After finishing equal third in the VFL's JJ Liston Trophy, Adrian Fletcher was the favourite heading into the nights vote count, however there were a number of players all in contention to win the award. By the end of the night it was the playing Assistant Coach who won his second successive Gerry Callahan Trophy with 80 votes. Runner up for the award was Co-Captain Brad Lloyd with 71 votes, with Sam Cranage finishing third with 70 votes.

The Ron James Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player judged by his peers as the Most Valuable Player. The criteria for the award is the player who displays the qualities of determination, courage, leadership, spirit and an ability to overcome adversity. This prestigious award, as judged by the Williamstown playing group, was won by Matthew Pearce.

In the reserves vote count Luke Jarrad took out the Bill Sheehan Memorial Award for the reserves best and fairest with 90 votes, from Nick McArdle on 85 votes, with Tom Hill and Ben Kelly tied for third with 84 votes.

Have West and Fletcher (and anyone else) decided to stay on or retire yet?

Would be good if they could keep Fletcher for another season. Realise he's not getting any younger or quicker but a number of younger midfileders (or aspiring midfielders) would benefit from being around such a smart player.
Consider he was a very underated player at AFL level.
he's an animal, what can u expect!!!

The local paper has reported that Fletch is in line to take up an assistant coach's position at the Kangaroos, and thus, become the coach of Port Melbourne.

Will keep everyone up to date as further news comes to hand.

Westy is playing another year and Fletcher looks like going to North as an assistant as Dale61 said.

Onslaught, the comments re Fletch going to North were posted BEFORE it was announced he had gone to Geelong.

In fact, there is a topic on Fletch's departure further down the list.
