Thanks Bat! Vic Park would have been good but I suppose I can see where they are coming from. We played an elimination final at Victoria Park without a fence last year, largely because of a scheduling hole the VFL found itself in due to Port Melbourne finishing 2nd and claiming a home final, a right the VFL only doles out to teams that finish 1 and 2. This meant the VFL had the impossible task of playing 3 finals at North Port Oval over two days. As such, an opportunity presented itself to fixture Collingwood, as the highest ranking of the 5th to 8th teams, at Victoria Park, provided Collingwood pay for the lost gate takings.
The hope was that we could wrangle a similar arrangement this year but all the noise is that the game will be at North Port Oval, which is a shame, because we'd get a big crowd at Vic Park and it would look good on TV if Channel 7 was willing to shoulder the inconvenience of broadcasting from two different grounds in two days...
