Maybe if Reid makes it back as a forward, Jesse White May be bolstering our VFL team later on. Hmmmm....

And the opposition...

Box Hill Hawks
B Miles Litherland Mirra
HB Whitecross Spangher Heatherley
C W.Langford O'Rourke Willsmore
HF Webster Woodward Sicily
F Schoenmakers Grimley O'Brien
R B.McEvoy Howe Simpkin
Int Lock Collins Pittonet Lawlor Iles O'Donnell Gordon Switkowski* Crocker

By my count, 18 Hawthorn listed players versus our 17 AFL players (which is really 16.5, considering Sinclair will only play a half). On the other hand, Hawthorn may have to hold someone back as standby for their AFL game that is on at roughly the same time...

Hopefully Moore or Marsh are played forward.

Might be time to allow Marsh to develop in another role to increase his chances of a debut.

Oh well. Over to the VFL boys now.

Tell you what though, I'll be very upset if Moore goes back again on Saturday. White has run his race. We'll get more out of playing Darcy or Gault instead of him. Or even, dare I say it, Reid...

Let's make sure we get a good crowd down to Vic Park to cheer the boys on!

Hoping for strong performances from Reid and Greenwood to reaffirm why they should be selected for next Friday night's match against Hawthorn.

Have parent duties early on but I hope to make it down for the second half.

Bad news regarding Still but hopefully the silver lining will be Moore playing forward for the rest of the year.

Johno O'Rourke must be a bit of a disappointment for the Hawks. He was taken second in the 2012 draft, he's 21 and playing in the twos. :?

I guess you can put it down to the Hawks being a tough team to break into but still....

I'm more shocked by Langford playing in the two's.

He was a revelation last year and kicked 3 in the GF.

This is going to be a difficult assignment.

One hopes Moore is played forward again but if not him then Reid or Marsh as a nice surprise would be interesting to watch.

If Marsh can't crack it for a game as a defender why not switch him forward or on to a wing?

Pies by 3pts.

I'm really hoping Greenwood, Scharenberg, Kennedy and Reid all have great games. These guys could all be in our best 22 later this year. Hopefully Reid and Greenwood will play well enough to get senior spots to face the Hawks.

langford is an emergency. that surprises me too but have not taken much notice of his afl games this year.

the hawks have been dealing to the vfl teams and have not really faced an afl stand alone. this will be their biggest test.

Here's an update on some VFL injuries for those of you that care:

1. Michael Still ripped his hammy off the bone and is done for the season.
2. Tim Allan had had surgery to remove some bone from his ankle and will be out for quite some time (not sure exactly how long but it's medium to long term in Balme speak).

Our big man stocks in the VFL have taken quite a hit.
Damn it!

Both are important players, especially Still, who was in terrific form before he got injured.

Only adds to the imperative that we keep Moore forward now, in my opinion.

Get well soon, boys.
Davoren? I'll get some kindling....
