Should be a ripper game, wouldn't discount our chances. Tempted to make the trip down but the fact it's televised tempers that.

Should get Gault back.

Blair back (more than likely) into the seniors will mean another player will drop back.

And should get 4 quarter games out of Reid, Greenwood, Young and Moore.

Freeman and Sinclair must be getting close to returning as well.

Looking forward to this considering Collingwood has started to hit some form in the past few weeks with a minor setback against Casey a few weeks back and we're testing ourselves against the best side so far this season.

I'm hoping Abbott backs up his good performance against Werribee with another good performance. Players of focus and attention in this game will be Greenwood, Reid, Scharenberg and Moore.

Wow Box Hill only the 1 loss for the year.

There must be a strong correlation between having a successful VFL squad and being a powerful AFL force.

Geelong were strong VFL performers during there reign and the hawks seem to be replicating it in recent years.

This is the level we must get to for sustained success.

Succumb to your better instincts, J. It's on the TV alright, but nothing beats VFL at Vic Park in the flesh! :)

Yep. As I mentioned in the OP, projected AFL-lister count of 17, assuming nobody slips over in the shower or something equally stupid between now and Saturday...

16 AFL listed players vs their 21 this week. No wonder Box Hill are flying. We have a chance but wouldn't it be nice to be Hawthorn with 22 AFL players in your VFL team? I'm expecting Hartung, Langford or Litherland to be held back as an emergency. Birchall will be promoted for their Essendon game.

They had 21 available last week, but only 16 played in the VFL seniors, with the other 5 playing in the development league. Birchall and Brand were injured, while Litherland was named to play against Williamstown but was a withdrawal.

Don't quote me, but I think there might be a bit of an agreement between Box Hill and Hawthorn that they have to have a certain amount of Box Hill representation in the team every week. The 5 Hawthorn players who played in the DL are all rookies, so Hawthorn don't really lose that much when they have a full list to choose from in that kind of situation...

Now that I've had a chance to listen to Buckley's press conference, I might have to revise my AFL-lister projection (again) back up to 17, as Buckley says that they're expecting Sinclair to play on Saturday (al beit for only a half). He'll be a bit short of a gallop and only playing half a game but hey, every little bit helps, right?

The fact that Hawthorn play simultaneous to our game means they might have to hold someone back. Jed Anderson came off after half time with a back complaint on Sunday and may not come up off a 6 day break, so they may lose a little bit of depth at the higher end of their AFL stocks.

Regardless, we rightly go into this one as underdogs. It will arguably be our biggest challenge since the Footscray game. But if we win, we're back in the 8 and will likely be just outside the top 4 on percentage.

They played off in the grand final last season and where premiers the year before.

It's fair to say it isn't all about injuries though it plays it's part.

Some intel on a couple of prime VFL movers, courtesy of BigFooty poster Kirby...
Here's an update on some VFL injuries for those of you that care:

1. Michael Still ripped his hammy off the bone and is done for the season.
2. Tim Allan had had surgery to remove some bone from his ankle and will be out for quite some time (not sure exactly how long but it's medium to long term in Balme speak).

Our big man stocks in the VFL have taken quite a hit.
Damn it!

Both are important players, especially Still, who was in terrific form before he got injured.

Only adds to the imperative that we keep Moore forward now, in my opinion.

Get well soon, boys.

Hey JW, quick question. Just how does one pronounce Greenhough's name? I've heard it variously pronounced Green-Hoff, Green-Huff, Green-Hoe and Green-How. Which one is right?

Also, is Ash Close in with a chance of playing?

God that is as big shame about Still. He was awesome this year. I really hope he comes back next year. He made a huge difference to our team.

Maybe if Reid makes it back as a forward, Jesse White May be bolstering our VFL team later on. Hmmmm....

i've only ever referred to scotty as scotty or hoff.

as for ash close, he appears to be close. certainly in the selector's minds.

Sad to hear Still is gone for the Season but Hopefully means Moore stays up Forward now for rest of the Season
