Things are looking up.
Who can replace Armstrong next week and what about Cox?
Seedsman will come straight back in for Useless, but I would find room for De Goey. Insanely good game!

Cox had a mare to half time, but stuck at it and improved in the seond half.

JDG certainly did kill it, Kosh. Best on Ground by the length of the Flemington straight. GET THIS BLOKE IN THE SENIORS, RIGHT THE F-CK NOW!!!

(Soory for the shouting)...

BenKen was excellent as welll. Probably does need another week or two, but he is coming down the mountain alright...
Thanks MB. Love the Shouting BTW. :)

Well.... I just got home and can write my thoughts of the game. Haven't read all the pages yet.

But really only one thing to be said. DeGoey
.

Had 3-4 shots for 3 behinds I think. None easy. That would be the only critique. Should have kicked a goal.

Otherwise completely smashed it. Won clearance after clearance. Took a massive speccy.

Has to be in seniors now. And not sub. Is a bull. Is skillful. He could be our Fyfe!

Outstanding.

BK good.

Mash good at time but still has more defending learning to go.

Shazza ok. Solid. Simply is error free mostly. Positions himself well.

Gault was ok. Did his thing without starring.

Cox has a go. But has a long way to go. Was against Simpson.

Faz gets goals over the back too often for my liking. Would prefer more presentation.

If DeGoey wasn't bog, I'll walk to the mcg next game.

Love to know the stats. He didn't knock at the seniors door tonight. He went though it with a bulldozer.

Because with the Gold folding, the VFL wants to geet a presence in Bendigo, hence their fixturing of this match (and one between the Dogs and the Bombres later in the year) in Bendigo.

I don't mind it, actually. QEO is a great ground to watch footy from. Fantastic surface too.

Sitting a Cafe in Iceland for last 2 hrs following your commentary. Great effort. Thanks.
How did Freeman go? I know last year was a right off, but it seems a slow progression given his good pre season.

Thanks LoP, glad you enjoyed it, happy to be of service. :)

Freeman? A workman-like performance is how me and the old man would describe it. Certainly out-shone by De Goey, but was reliable at the coal face.

He is building slowly, and certainly could take the game on a bit more with his speed, but he is getting there, bit by bit. I'm not worried, he'll come good.

Just to add to the DeGoey discussion, cos IMO it is the main talking point.

He spent most time as an inside mid. His roving of the ruck tap or even off a marking contest was exquisite. Often he'd be tackled but still burst through. He used the ball well. Had a clanger after his big speccy. And missed two shots from 40m+ on 45 angle. So they were hard shots.

In the 2nd half he spent time as half forward or forward pocket. Again. He won the contested ball consistently. And set up a few goals I think.

It may have been coincidence but every time I focased on him with the binoculars he seemed to win the clearance.

We are wasting his talent at this level and needs to be fast tracked at the higher level.

I believe we have an absolute gun here. Future AA mid.

DeGoey definitely dominated tonight, although he wasn't entirely clean with the ball, a lot of very short kicks, those misses were bad misses including one from about 25m directly in front.

Other one that stood out was he took a mark on the wing then instead of going back he handballed it to a team mate who got tackled straight away. Just some little things but very positive how often he gets it for a young bloke

Also great to see Fasolo doing well, he is a natural forward and a very good one, bloody good kick and unlucky not to have 4 except he shaved the post from 50m out on the boundary. For all the crying about the forwards and especially accuracy, he is the one missing the most from the seniors.

Don't mind the look of Cox, he will get better, but geez he is big. For a bloke who is in his first season he is not bad. Could see him in the seniors by years end

Gault was disappointing, hoping he would have an impact but was pretty quiet

Other negative for me was the backline, I spent the whole game behind our goals, but twice they managed to kick goals from crumbing contests right on their goal line, both should have been punched through for behinds but instead kept alive and allowed them to goal

The goal De Goey missed from 25m was certainly gettable. But he had a twist and uturn before kicking. So did all the hard stuff to shake off opponents. Just didn't quite nail it. It appeared to me that all his shots didn't miss by much. If you were behind goals you'd knowbetter.0

Clokey doesn't always miss by much either! :p Its just a little refinement needed and he will be elite, definitely doesn't struggle to win the ball and his contested marking was bloody good as well.

I would like to know who passed it to him in the 2nd qtr though, he ended up taking the mark further out and on a far worse angle than the bloke who passed!
