YAY GO WILLIAMSTOWN!!!

I was trying to watch the game... haha! I worked today from 9am-6pm, and in the food court it was on TV. But i couldn't see the score coz it was so far away, so the security guard kept coming over and telling my boss and I the scores!
I watched some of the 2nd quarter on my break though! :D:D:D It was great!!!

Congratulations Willy and the reserves!
GO PIES FOR THIS SATURDAY!! :D

Love always, Alyssa xoxo

The reserves won it after a 6-5 to 0-1 first quarter. The difference wasn't much more than 40-odd points until late in the last quarter, when Williamstown kicked a couple of late goals to win by 8 goals plus chance.

The seniors did pretty much the same. They hit the ground firing and were 30-odd points up by quarter time. The second was fairly even, but Box Hill staged a mini comback in the third before Williamstown regrouped and ran out 29 points winners.

Final result:
BOX HILL: 1.1.7 ~ 2.4.16 ~ 8.6.54 ~ 9.9.63
WILLIAMSTOWN: 6.5.41 ~ 9.9.63 ~ 12.9.81 ~ 13.14.92

GOALS: Box Hill:Bayford, Kenna 2, Johnson, Harford, Ball, Campbell, Marguccio.
Williamstown: Baldwin 4, Mahoney, Molloy 2, Williams, Smoker, Cranage, McGough, Swan.
BEST: Box Hill: Hazell, Clarke, Greene, Kenna, Sewell, Johnson.
Williamstown: Fletcher, Lloyd, West, Cranage, Shackleton, Swan, McKee.
UMPIRES: Stefan Grun, Simon Meredith, Matt Stevic.
CROWD: 10,456 at Optus Oval.

The best-on-ground medallions were won by Adrian Fletcher (seniors) and Ben Kelly (reserves).

I have a heap of pics that I'll post over the next few days, and my comprehensive match report will be posted as soon as I get some time to review the tape.

Did we win? We shit it in!

I took my son to OPTUS yesterday and it was a great day. Willy was great although they went walkabout for a quarter when Box Hill came back within 27 pts.

Some of those Box Hill/Hawthorn supporters are wankers, we had a few of them on the opposite goals to the cheer squad being absolute prats ...But the young kidies are well schooled at Magpie land as they well and truely took da piss out of them. LOL

Go Seagulls!

Well done to Brad Gotch and the boys. Especially Westy and Llody. They really deserved this one.
I thought it was pretty bloody ordinary though that a number of the Collingwood boys didn't front for the official presentations at Williamstown(McKee, Freeborn, Molloy and Williams) Very poor indeed.
I understand their predicament but they could have least showed their faces for an hour or so, to show support their appreciation for the Williamstown football club. Afterall hey did play in a grandfinal. Brad Gotch looked very disappointed when handing out the premiership caps to his players and those players were not there to accept them.

Does leave a sour tatste your mouth.
I'm Williamstown and Collingwood through and through but this was unacceptable.

I'm with you Tank, and you need to include Tex as well. If the rumour of Richo retiring in a few weeks are true, you would have thought that his good mate in Jarrod would have at least fronted, even if it was just to celebrate with Richo.

However, in saying that, the news is that Jarrod may have broken his toe again. Apparently, he hurt it in the first quarter and battled through it for the rest of the game. Maybe, just maybe, he had an excuse.

This doesn't excuse the four for not making an appearance. I was at the after-match celebrations and as you well know, there were a lot of disapponted Collingwood fans when they realised these five weren't going to show. (I left at 10.30pm, so hopefully, they turned up after that.)

I didn't mean to sound harsh Dale but to see the disappointment on Brad Gotch's face after he had given those 5 guys a huge wrap for being part of the premiership and they didn't front was a real kick in the guts for not only Gotchy but also Westy, Lloyd, Fletch, the rest of the players including the seconds and not forgetting the supporters.

It's a fair bet that Richo has retired as the players carried him off on their shoulders after the game.

I was still hanging around at close to midnight and none of those players had fronted.

You don't need to get blind drunk or even drink for that matter but to be just there for an hour or so is not too much to ask.

Go Seagulls!

Nothing harsh about your comments, Tank.

My philosophy is that you play as a team, you win as a team, you celebrate as a team, end of story.

You are right about the look of disappointment on Gotchy's face once he realised they weren't there. He praised about how the Collingwood and Williamstown players had bonded, how they had accepted each other and how they were playing not only for each other, but for the Williamstown Football Club.

However, we should at least wait to see if there is any reason why these players didn't turn up before we get too critical of them (or have we done that already?).

I agree Davros, enough of the negatives and let's celebrate the first two of three premiership victories this year.

Tessa, my source told me on Saturday night that Molloy has possibly broken his toe again. It's believed to have happened some time in second quarter, but he battled on until the end.

But you are right in that we should be celebrating the positives, not discussing the negatives.

I had a quick preview of the game today and it looked like a totally different game on tv than were I was sitting at ground level. However, I could see, from a different angle, each passage of play where I took a pic. I'll watch the tape thoroughly on Weds and hopefully have my report posted late Weds arvo / early evening.

I'm at work now, so when I get home (at 10.30pm) I'll start posting the pics for everyone to enjoy.
