Congratulations Essendon
Love them or hate them, they stood their ground and held out to ultimately defeat the incompetence of ASDA to be declared not guilty over this banned substance rubbish! There is a lesson in this for all Clubs now: Stick together and you'll win out in the long run! To his credit Coach Hird took them on and won! Made fools out of the authorities in the end. We need to do the same with our players and hold out til victory! Don't give in too quickly. We as Pies fans should be proud of the Essendon strategy and adopt the same ! In many ways I hate Essendon but on this one they deserve praise for having the guts to take on the incompetent authorities
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

Which means, we know you are guilty, but thankyou for doing such a superb job covering it up, so we can continue to pretend we have it all under control.
Congratulations Essendope, you win, and footy loses.
Just a complete disgrace.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

Pablo has just presented us with the most sublime version of 'WHO's on First' by Abbott and Costello ... so well constructed from the original's sense of chaos in meaning while at the same time taking the mickey out of Caro's speech infirmity ... Classic

Essendon, the club, were found guilty.ANNODAM wrote:I really don't understand:

The players were exonerated because there was no evidence to show exactly what they were injected with.
They were fortunate that the club had destroyed any records of what was taken, possibly after being tipped off, or they didn't keep any records, which was probably strategic rather than mismanagement.
They are cheats of the highest order.

Overall the right outcome.
Club was punished with draft penalties, fines and missing finals.
Players were duped and rightly have gotten off. Glad that players were not penalised as they relied on the club and the club assured them that no banned substances were administered.
May not be a popular view, but I am pleased. Fortunately job made easier because could not prove what they took, but this was always the correct outcome.

I only agree with the outcome in the sense that there wasn't enough evidence to prove Essendon were guilty for administering substances to their players in 2012. This is the presumption of innocence and it needs to be upheld no matter whether you think the club is guilty or not from a personal perspective.
However it's a disappointing outcome overall as important documentation was never retained and key individuals like Dank, Charter and Alavi were unwilling to cooperate with ASADA's investigation so therefore the truth of what occurred behind closed doors in 2012 will never be ascertained sadly and a precedent will be set from this decision and I don't think it's a positive one either to be honest.
Essendon are not guilty but they're NOT innocent either! There's a key distinction that needs to be made here and Essendon supporters seem to struggle to grasp this concept if their reactions from the last few days are anything to go by.
