Which ever one comes from Victoria and has family in Victoria :P. So I think Levy, plus I do like the look of him.

I expect this guy to be this years draft bolter.

A smokey for a Hine special at 5.

Interestingly Langford played the season as a 17 year old and doesn't turn 18 until December so he's one of the youngest in this draft.

He's approximately 8 months younger than Laverde.

A good each way bet at pick 5.

I don't want Pickett due to the go home factor, not sure I want Wright either as we already have Grundy-Witts-Moore-Keefe-Gault at or around the 200cm mark, and none of those guys have matured yet, they will get better as the years roll on.

Reminds me of Hodge a bit, looks like he can play anywhere, he'd probably cut his teeth across HB and move into a mid-fwd role when he develops.

A beautiful kick alright.

However, my preference is:
1. Laverde
2. Weller
3. Langford

The great thing is there are obviously several good sized mids who ooze class. We should end up with one of them.

I find this interesting. There's a number of people who are less interested in Pickett because he's a "small forward", but are happy to look at players like Langford who seems to have played less midfield than Pickett has. Petracca and Laverde have also not played purely as mids. If Pickett is seen as a midfielder (impressed with his beep test at the combine, showing he has the endurance), he'll be picked as one. It doesn't matter that he's spent time forward as a junior, many of the other prospects are not yet pure mids either.
Well done boys!

The days of players being purely mids are slowly fading, need to have some capacity to contribute to the overall team performance when they are rotated out, more often than not you'd imagine that will be HF or FP.

Cockatoo seems like a handy type if still available at 30, he's a 187cm explosive line breaker with elite skills off both sides, he'd also fit in well name wise.

This one Pies - fast as hell, tough as nails, a brilliant kick and some of the best evasive skills/agility I've seen on a young bloke - http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-09-10/ ... highlights

Laverde isn't a genuine midfielder at present and I'm not sure anyone on here has claimed him to be one.

Pickett is in the same boat though may have spent more time playing through that position.

If we want a pure mid then it's Weller or Ahern ahead of both Laverde and Pickett but I'm not convinced we'll go that way.

As I've stated previously I just don't think you use a top 5 pick on a small forward/midfielder.

Pick 5 will get us another high class key position prospect or the best tall midfield/flanker type after Petracca and Brayshaw.

To me this is the smarter play and you yourself have defended our recruiting of midgets in the past because we didn't have the picks required to snare the better prospects that also had height.

Pick 9 for Pickett would have been around the mark.
