So we've got pick 5 and 30. Who do you want?

Like the look of him too. Moves smoothly in traffic and seems a natural footballer, with (dare i say it) a touch of pendles about him.Stinger wrote:Laverde for mine.
Has good height too and some nice pace over the first few yards and once he bulks up i think he's a perfect type for the much admired notion of a a big bodied midfielder, who can run, win his own ball but take a nice mark as well.

5 = Wright if not there Laverde ( I think someone outside the top 6 may push in and give us a hard choice. Could in fact be Laverde )
From those I think could be there at 30. (doubt Picket or Cockatoo will)
30 = R. Mckenzie ( could we be that lucky) Duggan, Vickers-Willis or Lamb - all have great strengths but worrying weakness.
48 = Langdon. Think he could be around. Some early TAC games I listened to he was in everything and he could be there at 48.

Wright looks a ready made power forward who could play round 1 next year.
However, given we've already got Cloke, Reid, Moore, Grundy/Witts and possibly Mason Cox as our KPFs, I'm not sure we need another loping giant of a full forward.
Laverde would give us much more flexibility all over the ground (except the ruck) and he oozes class a la Pendles and Botempelli.

In my new opinion (It is Monday after all) change no 5 so far:
If Wright is available take him first. He's too good to pass up
If Wright is unavailable take Laverde.
If neither Wright, Laverde (and McCartin / Brayshaw) are not available then who is the new no 5 that we want?
Possibly Weller.

I've seen Wright play live a couple of times in 2014. Don't think he is anywhere near ready for seniors in 2015 to be honest. I reckon Moore is better as well.RudeBoy wrote:Wright looks a ready made power forward who could play round 1 next year.

Seen Laverde a few times as well. Reminds me of a Malceski more than a Pendles or Bonts.

Thanks for putting those up
I like Laverde and Pickett from those.
Laverde looks to have real grunt and toughness - pretty fearless by the looks.
While Pickett has a ton of pace & skill.
If we got either of 'em it'd be a good day at the draft. As to which one suits our needs the best, others will know more than me - I do like toughness at the top level though.

Anyone but Weller. Not another Southport mid thanks. We just got rid of one of those.watt price tully wrote:In my new opinion (It is Monday after all) change no 5 so far:

That's true to a point. His brother is in Melbourne playing at St Kilda - young Maverick which may well mitigate the go home factor. Then again it could be Cain & Able, Peter & Tim, Liam & Noel...AN_Inkling wrote:Anyone but Weller. Not another Southport mid thanks. Apparently his family is planning on moving back to Melbourne in the likely scenario that he is drafted by a vic club, given his brother already plays for the saints.AN_Inkling wrote:Anyone but Weller. No go home factor there folks.
I'll bow to your opinion woftam, as I haven't seen any of them play, but based my opinion solely on their highlights reels. Based solely on that I reckon Laverde would suit our needs better.woftam wrote:I've seen Wright play live a couple of times in 2014.
