Although, Hine never actually said that. That was the reporter.swoop42 wrote:http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-15/new-role-for-catturnedmagpie-varcoe
"Collingwood will consider using the pick on either a midfielder or a medium-sized forward".
Reckon that puts Laverde in the mix.
And no love for Lachie Weller at 5 to replace our departing Queenslander?
Well done boys!
The player who might well be the best available at 5 is Lever.
Captained Vic metro last season as a bottom aged player and some have speculated he could well have ended up being this years No.1 pick if not for the knee injury.
And that's the kicker, the knee, just can't see we'll run the risk on taking a player with a pick we got after losing Beams and the dramas with Scharenberg and Freeman last year.
We need this pick to become a certified winner and if your picking a player who's already suffered an ACL tear then your lowering your odds of it being one from the get go.
Don't think we can risk it.

Well if we can't somehow upgrade our pick 5 to 3... (and we're not likely to get what we want at 5), then maybe we should downgrade 5 and upgrade 30... then we might pick up Cockatoo and something else interesting?!? I'd prefer to somehow wangle pick 3 but yeah...swoop42 wrote:The player who might well be the best available at 5 is Lever.

Pass. Prefer we keep our Frost. We could always just grab his brother from GWS. A 5, 30, 48 for Frost and 4 type deal. Would only leave us 1 live pick unless there are to be further delistings or a Ramsay demotion to the rookie list.Harvey wrote:Melbourne struggling to get a pick to trade for Sam Frost atm. We should definitely try get in where we offer Melbourne our pick 30 and 48 for 23.
Melbourne in: 30 + Frost
Out: 23
Collingwood in: 23
Out: 30 + 48
GWS in: 48

I'm talking about GWS's Sam Frost in that scenario. Melbourne are trying to trade for him but don't have the pick in the right range (third round) we can package up our second and third and upgrade it to Melbourne's pick 23 to facilitate the trade. We're keeping our Frost.jackcass wrote:Pass. Prefer we keep our Frost. We could always just grab his brother from GWS. A 5, 30, 48 for Frost and 4 type deal.
