I don't know whether Dale was going to list this, but I went to the Bendigo game and in the VFL Recond there was an article on Finals Eligibilty for AFL-listed and rookie players in the VFL.
Any way here is the relevant quote from the article concerning Collingwood / Williamstown players:
"All AFL-listed and rookie players are able to play the first week of the TXU-VFL finals (with the AFL playing its final home and away round), conditions change dramatically for the remaining weeks of the TXU-VFL finals.
Only those AFL-listed and rookie player who have played SEVEN games with their aligned club will be allowed to play in the TXU-VFL finals.
Williamstown has a minimum 20 Collingwood players available for selection, and that may increase if Richard Cole plays against Bendigo. But only seven of those players - Rupert Betheras, Leon Davis, Glenn Freeborn, Ben Kinnear, Heath Scotland, Dane Swan, and Tristen Walker - have played AFL this season. Betheras, Davis, Freeborn, and Scotland all played for Collingwood in last year's AFL Grand Final.
Capping off that well of experience is Magpie veteran Mark Richardson, who has 12 AFL season behind him. Richardson has played good football all year for Williamstown."
According to the VFL this is the full list of players who are eligible to play for Wiiliamstown after week one of the finals:
Mark McGough
Rupert Betheras
Cameron Cloke
Justin Crow
Leon Davis
Steven Eichner
Glenn Freeborn
Tom Hooker
David King
Ben Kinnear
Nick Maxwell
Luke Mullins
Bo Nixon
Guy Richards
Mark Richardson
Jason Roe
Heath Scotland
Luke Shackleton
Dane Swan
Tristen Walker
Needed to play against Bendigo: Richard Cole
For the those who are interested, you can see the full article in the link to current VFL Record in the Football Victoria website http://www.footballvic.com.au
Hope this is of benefit to those followers of Collingwood / Williamstown over the next few weeks of the finals and hope that Collingwood, Williamstown, Williamstown Reserves, and the TAC Williamstown aligned Under 18 team - Western Jets- all win premierships this year.
For those who don't know the Western Jets play in Williamstown colours (exception being a Jet logo in the centre of the sash). They are coached by Garry "Buddah" Hocking and the rumour is that they may be called the Williamstown Jets next season. So if the Jets play a curtain raiser prior to a Collingwood final - remember they are aligned to Williamstown.
Dale, I enjoy your news about Williamstown and it has taken me all season to register. I have been to most Williamstown games this year - including York Park - and your comments and post match reports have been spot on!!!!
Cheers everyone!!!!!!
