My Thoughts
The goal by Ferguson was one of the best goals I have seen
He baulked (sold candy 3 times in a tight spot) If we needed more midgets he would be worth a look in.
I spent most of the time just looking at Marsh so I didn't concentrate on the game as such.
My verdict on Marsh is that he will make an excellent AFL player. He can take a mark, leads well, is physical and when he gets the ball often has time. He chased the ball the length of the field to mow down the ball carrier. He took a great contested mark and kicked the goal but the stupid umpire paid in the back. He certainly has the X factor - looks a great pick up.
But unfortunately is no where near AFL level yet. He missed some easy tackles. he has no tank - he seemed stuffed by half way thru the second quarter and he dropped a couple of easy marks.
The game!
What are we doing with the forward set up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At times we were out numbered 3 to 1. We didn't have any space and very few lead up marks. Also the kicking - the horror, the horror!
The game swang NB way when Keefe was moved forward and NB cut us up.
When Keefe was moved back the game went back in our favour.
Faz was very good whether forward or back he was a class player.
Lynch who played great last week didn't have an impact
Kennedy can really get the ball
Again Martin can kick the ball
Armstrong and Yagmoor were solid in defence ( MB said Armstrong was hopeless and he may be right I wasn't really looking at him but from a far distance he looked ok)
Keefe was really marshalling the troops down back - he played well.
I think the VFlL side is better this year than last year.
I didn't see much of Ramsay. Clarke was ok.
The sack and Dwyer have gone to Sydney
I didn't notice Thomas much except that he really does have a fully developed AFL body
Can mooney make it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't know - has potential

we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.
This was one of the cleverest things I have seen from a footballer in years. I hope the Club puts film of this up amongst the highlights. As good a solo effort to win a game as one could wish to see! I had to rub my eyes to make certain I wasn't seeing the ghost of the Macedonian Marvel in the forward pocket, haunting the old Social Club.MagpieBat wrote:Long ball to the square, Ferguson out the back....

Interesting a few 50 metre penalties were paid when the man on the mark made a defending arc. Marsh was caught out twice doing this.MagpieBat wrote:The VFL umps are f-ckwits.

Is anyone as bad as Corrie?Collingwood Crackerjack wrote:MB, from reading between the lines I get a sense that you are not an Armstrong fan, so try to be impartial when I ask; is he really as bad as Corrie?
No, fair cop.
He just doesn't offer anything we need. His kicking is good only if he goes sideways under no pressure. And his defensive game is horrible. Time and again he gets caught 20 metres off his man. We were lucky that Ben Jacobs didn't hurt us more on the scoreboard, otherwise Armstrong's unaccountability could have lost the game...
