Pretty spot on JLC, Didak & Willo need a wake up call in the Two's. Cloke will be given another chance. The first quarter was a shocker to single out one or two players is unfair when they all played below par and Brisbane came to play.
They better be focussed for Friday night as Adelaide will come to do the same.
Pepstar just tell your Carlton friends the only good thing about Port wearing Black & White is they got beaten by the Black & White three times this year as Eddie said.

Boy you sure are optimistic to have Cloke listed as a positive from the game.
We havnt had any crumbers all year. Obree is our best imo BUT HE lowered his colours to Ashcroft on the weekend.
Our pressure from their kick outs was not very good. Every kick hit a target and they cleared the ball to 50 each time. I was a bit disappointed considering Ashcroft was on the kick outs.

The Torres bounce is officially dead. You are walking alone now Fernando.

I don't think Clokey's (and many other players) game on the weekend was positive at all JLC BUT I think the positive looking ahead is that with more match fitness and match pressure he will improve on that performance - the same goes for Clement - and for Presti when he returnes.
And it's tough rating him too harshly when he was playing on one of the best CHFs around at the moment, particulary when our whole team was down on the day and there was no pressure on the delivery of the ball into the Lions forward line. Jason will be determined to prove himself over the next few weeks and get back to his best.
GO PIES!

JLC, i couldn't agree more with your assessment of the game. After, Brown, it was Brisbane's second tier players that made the difference on Saturday.
The likes of Pike, Hart, Caracella destoyed us.
Woewodin is typical of his ex- melbourne teamates...he doesn't have an acountable bone in his body...gave the alcoholic in Pike to much room...maybe it was Pikes breath or something.
Didak. Don't get me started on Didak. This bloke has to realise that football is not just about running around to your left hand-side trying to do the impossible.
Altogether, that first qtr was worse than the final term against Essendon earlier in the year.
The other thing that was confirmed to me was that you can tell how well we will play by watching the first 5 minutes of the first qtr. If we are not switched on, forget about any possible comebacks. However, if it had been us 7 goals up at qtr time, I'd still would have given Brisbane a chance.
Buckley was the only guy who 'tried' for 4 qtrs. There were times in the match when he was chasing 2-3 guys at once.
One other thing. Why did we not go man-on-man after Brisbane scored their fourth goal of the 1st qtr? Instead, we let them run off us with ease. We nearly won the flag last year playing man-on-man. Why would we not have tried it on saturday?

Bucks hold your head high. The rest of the team lacked intensity. We were caught out trying to play the man instead of the ball early and IMHO that was our first & biggest mistake. Brisbane are a very physically strong team and they sucked us in. Game over at 1/4 time. On a positive, that was probably the finest 1/4 of football I have seen for a long time, everything worked for them, 8 goals from 16 inside 50's, vey efficent.
From then on, they made us look competitive by playing very negatively and protecting their lead. Our disposal was dismal all day, even the best kicks in the side were at fault.
Re Cloke; a bad start but then held Brown goaless for the last 3/4's. His strength has always been as the loose floater in defence. A tough job for a player with a big heart but lets be honest, not a lot of skill.
Re Didak; what is his role?? I am a big fan of his but he is not a mid fielder yet. He has played his best footy in the foward pocket(very hit or miss type of role BTW) yet seems lost up in the middle or wing. Because of the success that Tarrent and Rocca have had recently MM is obviously trying to keep the forward line open for them but this is hurting the development of Dids. Call me stupid but I would drop Lonie as he gets knocked of the ball to easily and put Dids back there.

I'm pretty sure that the kick by Mark McGough wasn't intentionally aiming at Chris Tarrant's face. I think his aim may have been to get the ball forward but Tarrant got in the way.JLC wrote:That was a shocking kick by McGough to injure Tarrant and was one of the big factors in the game.
That's just the attitude we need...calling players Woewoful.Pike thrashed Woewoful when it mattered and that was the first quarter.
Supporters turn on players so quickly it is not funny.

Saturday's game shouldnt cause as much alarm as i think it is causing... seriously, that will NOT happen again this season. Everything that could possibly go right for Brisbane did, and the exact opposite for us.
1. Who kicks 8 straight these days??.... generally, 2 or 3 of those shots would have missed on any other given day.
2. Our skill level was a mess. And not only the usual culprits either, others apart from Johnson, Shaw, and McGough couldnt hit a target... Burnsy even missed tarrant under no pressure.
3. we'll come good, hopefully starting this week....
4. Burns will poll more votes than Buckley in the brownlow - check out last years round by round brownlow votes and the stats of both players each round 2002. Compare those to this season - Burns has had a fantastic year.
5. Anyone know of an avenue into marketing at the club? I have a management degree & marketing degree and would love to serve the club i love.
6. If i ever bump into the 8 foul mouthed, loud mouthed "fitzroy" supporters that sat behind me at the G on saturday, watch out. Fitzroy supporters..... please, give me a break, had they all bought memberships to the club when it was around, it would still be around!!!
7. Tony... i'll get us tickets to a sold out game.... remember, your Murphy... im O'Brien!
