I guess this just goes to show what happens when you play a "quality side" as compared to the rabble we've been playing against for the last 6 weeks, of which Geelong were the best of a bad lot.
I don't know if we've got the skill overall to win against the quality sides - or, if we did, we've forgotten now.
All we can hope for is that Adelaide coming off a game in WA will lose next week.
Looking on the bright side, we may have needed this slump heading into the finals (ala last season) and we will come good?

It's encouraging to see most of us so far are remaining positive. I expect everyone is feeling pretty gutted at the moment, after all the anticipation. Fact is, all of us, players especially, are going to have to learn from it and then put it behind us. Dwell on it and we won't win another match.
I'll post again when I've thought it all through, but Brisbane were freakishly good in that first quarter, and shot our confidence to bits. It wasn't all bad news, but make no mistake: whatever the Lions' form, a far better team won today. I've never seen our (current) midfield so badly towelled up.
We have lost the battle, but not yet the war.

mcgough won the game for us last week - cant expect an 18 year old to have a blinder every week and the only way to have them find consistency is to continue to play them.
very disappointing obviously - we played a side far superior to us (unfortunately i think thats their 9th win in our last 10 meetings) but there seemed little fight when it mattered most (ie, the first Q). very tough run home now and almost certain to miss a double chance finals campaign.
woey and, surprisingly, lonie, were found terribly short in their defensive skills today. woey refused to man up pike and im staggered lonie couldnt curb that little caracella prick. they werent alone however - beaten by a much better side on the day. a real wake up call without much time left to fix our weaknesses.

brissy versus pies post match
Isn't football ironic. For what its worth actually going into last years Grand Final I thought the result today was what was going to happen. Turns out we were unlucky (some say robbed) of a piece of football glory. Today nearly 12 months on, I thought we had improved overall to take the game up to Brisbane and we never even looked like getting near it.
Rocca and Tarrent were well held (poor taz must have had concussion), where were the other forwards? No criticism just questions. Molloy? Didak? Williams? Fair to say they haven't stood up WHEN Rocca and Taz get held. WE need them to stand up. A few goals each would be handy. It's not only these three guys if Rubert or Leon are reading. Goals, Goals, Goals. No one gets rotated on the bench if you kick GOALS.
I thought we were number one in the league in clearances from the ruck. (Not winning the ruck but clearances) Not today, we seemed to be killed. Hardness at the ball in clearances. I think O'Bree and Woewoedin need improvement in this area. E.G. Scotty Burns hardness I mean !! There around the ground stuff and general play is good though. McGough will be good, but pace is an issue. He is hard at it though I reckon.
Our poor backline was underdone and just looked flat. Call it what you want but Clement and Cloke was a big ask to hold the Brisbane boys.
This was just my thoughts from today, not necessarily just on today some form from some guys has been borderline for a few weeks now, but winning form makes people complacent I guess. I was convinced we were never gonna win ten games going straight into the finals so it was which game we were gonna lose rather than anything else. Thankfully Brisbane has given us a hiding 4 weeks out from the finals and not in the finals itself. I know the boys are better, stronger and more determined than what was shown today. Remember boys, form is temporary, class is permament. Go Pies!

Truly disapointed, blown out the water within 15 minutes of the game starting. Have they got the wood on us? I don't believe so they are just a better side.
We have yet to play 4 strong qtrs of football all year. Against a quality team this is going to be the result.
Good news we can improve, better news with Weagles going down and if Sydney go down we will be 4th on the ladder.
Bad news, Brisbane can get better too and that really worries me.

Sticky: Post Match v Brissy
It was good to see the pies stay within touch of Brisbane for most of the match, but that was an extremely disappointing loss.
Must win next week or Top 4 is unlikely.
