Sounds like it might be time to give Paine a run ahead of Lynch and Martin another crack.

Paine was poor defensively. He takes a good mark (sometimes) but his second efforts aren't AFL standard when the ball hits the deck. He really didn't influence this contest significantly until the Sandy boys fell away later in the match.

Our best players were Hudson, Kennedy, Martin, Jolly and Didak. Didak, like Paine, though, was better as the Sandy boys fell away.

Saw my first vfl game live for 2013
Kennedy was very good and you have to love the way Hudson goes about it
Martin and Ramsay impressed and when you see Paine overhead I just get excited but he can do better on the ground
Dids very classy but no real tackles
I like frosty he did not have a good one but he could be a tall back next year
also Cockie from Sandy needs kick for his brave punch in the back in the last 1/4 to Dids he was belting Ramsay early as well
enjoyable game
seeds got into it late
Bucks you just reckon he can still cut it in the middle

Photo's now up on TrueZebras from today's game.
Plenty of Collingwood photo's given the nature of the game.

Also a match review from Sandy's perspective.

Excellent win by the mighty Pies. Our top 8 chances look increasingly better now :)

Great to see Didak perform brilliantly. Surely he'll get selected next week against the Eagles. If he doesn't, I don't think he'll play for our senior side unfortunately. Jolly and Hudson both did well. I can see Jolly potentially returning for Lynch this week against the Eagles as well.

Really disappointed by Daisy's setback. That pretty much rules him out of having any chance to play in the senior side this year.

^^^ He had a 5 goal wind behind him! MB's post was much more exciting than watching it at the ground.

Does VFL ahve a final 8 like AFL system?

If it does, we're a good chance to make the finals then, as of the teams that could over take us (Port Melbourne, Essendon, North Ballarat and Northern Blues), Essendon plays North Ballarat - so one of them will be level with us if we lose but have a higher percentage - and Northern Blues play 4th placed Williamstown, so will probably lose.

For the record, North Ballarat will likely beat coburg, so if we lose we'll likely finish 8th and play Werribee (which would be two weeks in a row!) and if we win we'll finish 6th (unlikely to overtake Werribee on percentage) and likely play Port Melbourne (if they win).

A good result either way because it gives our fringe players (Kennedy, Didak, Krak, Hudson, Jolly etc) another run and also gives Daisy and possibly Young another week to prove their fitness (very optimistic I know!). We could beat Werribee and Port Melbourne too, which would give them another week which would be very helpful for the senior team if they continue. After that probably not much of a muchness in terms of preparing for finals.

Great win in tough conditions

The team song at the end was sung with real passion as well which showed this win meant a lot to the players. Interesting that Didak completely missed the winner circle song as he was too busy looking after the fans with autographs outside. Dids gets a bad rap, but you wont find a guy that loves the club and his fans as much as Alan does.

What did Witts do (if anything). Reports mention Jolly good and Hudson gave him a cut out in the ruck. Why not Witts????
Manassa is on the 50m, fakes the handball. He's going to shoot for goal, and he's put it through! HE'S PUT IT THROUGH. By golly what an individual effort. Thats got to be the GOAL OF THE CENTURY.
