Kennedy's first half, at least so far as gathering 20 in 2 quarters. I'll leave it to others to comment on the effectiveness of those disposals.MOTR wrote:Picking up on anything positive, MB.
Grundy's first half. Mind you, he does the spectacular things but can't convert a set-shot to save himself. Requires a lot of time, time we don't have in this premiership window to be frittering away on development rucks. But he will get better, eventually.
Yagmoor sounds like he played a decent game, at least at times.
Didak kicking a goal, for nostalgia reasons.
Collopy is a good VFL player, had a pretty good game it seems.
Marty did some good things, which will not sit well with the haters. Still depth, but handy depth.
Ramsay sounded lively. I look the look of him.
Kyle Martin 34 disposals, 16 tackles.
Really, only Kennedy and Martin kinda-sorta put their hand up, in my limited view. I will defer to those who were at the ground for a full wrap-up and assessment...

Cheers, MB. Thanks for the summary. Probably got a different perspective to you, because I think the premiership window is longer than you think. Massive Yagmoor fan, so thankful you picked up on positive vibes. Ramsay sounds like a good pick up. Also very hopeful about Oxley. Getting increasingly worried that our free agents might crowd out some very promising rookies.

I just feel that it gets trickier a proposition the longer we take to develop a #1 ruckman, what with Ball and Swanny turning 30 next year and nearer the end than the beginning.
I think we need a bridging ruckman for the next few years, but we can't keep trading away good currency for ruckmen. What to do?
Yagmoor is one I like too, but he can be woefully inconsistent some times. Lights up like a Christmas tree, then fizzles out, then lights up again. Probably a confidence thing. Might be worth another year on the rookie list. At his bubbly best, he offers that elite kicking off the half back line from a small defender that we just need very much.
Oxley, likewise, just needs time to physically develop. Has that wonderful right boot of his and can take very good intercept marks in the back half. Needs a while to fill out.

I could say the Same Thing with Cloke with his Lack of Converting.MagpieBat wrote: Grundy's first half. Mind you, he does the spectacular things but can't convert a set-shot to save himself.
