No surprises there and I'm glad Bucks has identified that Paine's weakness is his defensive side of his game. His attacking game is very good and he does create loads of chances. He does have a tendency to miss a few easy shots at goal but there's certainly upside to him and I think we just need to keep persisting with him. He'll come good.

Paine another 4 goals deserves a crack at senior level me thinks but will probably only occur if we continue with Lynch as the 2nd ruck.

A lineup of Jolly/Hudson, Witts, Cloke and Paine would make us to top heavy I guess.
If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that they are going to play Oxley at VFL level until the bye, which is when the "mid-year" rookie promotion becomes available. He's been playing pretty well and should get a game or two, you would think. Could definitely use some more class by foot in the backline.

Again, I would like to see if a forward line of Cloke/Paine/Lynch could work.

I would also punt Jolly back the VFL and play Witts as #1 ruck until the bye.

Paine currently sits second on the VFL goal kicking list with 25 just one behind the leader.

This is only his second season isn't it?

P.S-Martin sits 7th with 20 goals from 2 less games.

Yeah, that's right.

Remarkable feat, considering a few of the names on that list. Wow! :D

The next 7 games will inform our season I'd reckon. Casey (twice), Geelong, Box Hill, Williamstown, and Port included in there. Only the round 10 Coburg game offers a slightly easier offering.

There's no need to thank us MagpieBat. Your constant VFL coverage has actually made me more interested in seeing the VFL more as a matter of fact and the general knowledge that you display towards the VFL is impeccable.

Although I didn't get to read your VFL posts last week (holiday) I enjoy reading them. Keep up the good work.

If Nicksters want to catch the VFL game Collingwood vs Carlton / Preston it's on ABC iView. Saw it through iView last night.

I was impressed with VFL teams attitude & enthusiasm.
