Just as an aside, the following are players who could be into the VFL team next week:
Young, Dywer, Keeffe, Clarke, Russell, Goldsack, Blair, J. Thomas.
A fair few injuries, plus a couple of seniors who might get the boot. Makes today's effort all that more impressive, considering...

Yeah, I would endorse that.Collingwood Crackerjack wrote:Thanks again for a sterling effort MB.
Seems to me like Witt's is a quick learner, and was appreciably better for the run at AFL level in terms of playing with the intensity required. Bodes well for his future. Your thoughts?
As I mentioned earlier in the call, Gerard Fitzgerald (3-time premiership coach at North Ballarat who was in the special comments chair with the ABC today) mentioned this point a few times. And Witts has definitely come back and applied what he has learned in the seniors and what he has been told to improve upon in his game. Played really well.
He's not going to ruck as to a flag just right now at this very minute, but he is coming along very nicely.
I would drop Jolly and throw Witts in against Jamar, myself...

Agree. We have nothing to lose by doing that. Lynch couldn't hit the side of a barn, and there is only upside in Witts. His second efforts were fantastic today. On the March wrote:I would rest Lynch and play Witts next week.

Hmm, interesting.Trezegol wrote:Agree. We have nothing to lose by doing that. Lynch couldn't hit the side of a barn, and there is only upside in Witts. His second efforts were fantastic today. On the March wrote:I would rest Lynch and play Witts next week.
I just feel as though Witts does his best work as the #1 ruck, not #2 playing forward. He is, after all, the successor. So why not play him in that role?
I would like to see if a Cloke/Paine/Lynch setup can work as well, before we bench the Q-Stick...

Could we go in with this set up next week against the Dees:MagpieBat wrote:Hmm, interesting.Trezegol wrote:Agree. We have nothing to lose by doing that. Yeah, you could do that.Rick wrote:Could we go in with this set up next week against the Dees:

If Witts rucks alongside Huddo, well, okay. Good guy to learn off. Huddo will also protect him from the snipers.
Jolly, on the other hand, just needs to p-ss right off back to the reserves and learn what humility is. Then he can go back to The Age building and write an article about what it's like to get dropped for the first time in his career...

It's hard to judge but from what I've seen the Hudson/Witts combination seems to function better dare I say Jolly/Lynch.
From what i saw today Hudson looks to embrace his team mates in particular Witts and Grundy. Guides them.
The young guys look confident with Huddo around.
I love Hudsons repeat efforts too.
For Darren it's all about Darren.
On another note Broomhead plays like Sidey with a bit more zip.

Mick Malthouse was a big one for giving them a run in the seniors to let them know where they needed to be at. Buckley copped a bit for playing Witts, but sometimes fans can be a little short sighted.Collingwood Crackerjack wrote:Thanks again for a sterling effort MB.
