Match v Frankston 19-07-03 (UPDATED)

Post by Dale61 »

Hot off the press is the news that The Seagulls host Frankston at Point Gellibrand in this weeks ABC-TV Match Of The Day.

As with all televised games, the game is scheduled to kick off at 1.10 pm, with the reserves starting at 10.30 am.

Williamstown's form the week after a bye has been woeful so far this year, so this week will be no easy task. The Gulls need to win to consolidate their top three position, whilst Frankston need a victory to maintain their position in the eight.

An enthralling battle is assured, and a huge crowd is expected.

Also, Stereo974 will broadcast live commentary for those who cant make the trip over the bridge, or access a tv on the day.

Finally, I'll post pics of the game to support the match reports that will undoubtedly follow.

So dont forget, this game starts at 1.10 pm on Saturday.

Just out of interest do you think Guy Richards has any chance of playing this year ?? Is he more a ruckman come forward or a forward come ruckman ??

Havnt seen him play much but i remember when he was drafted Judkins described him as a bit of Spider Everitt.

JLC, I'd suggest that with the rotation that takes place during a game, Guy would be more of a permanent ruckman who changes on the bench.

With Cam getting cleaned up early in the second quarter (he was taken to hospital with suspected broken ribs), this forced Richo to take on some of the ruck work that Cam would have done.

How long Cam will be out is yet to be determined.

Guy Richards has become the number one ruckman for the Seagulls, and his dominance in the centre and around the ground is a major factor for Williamstown having such a potent midfield.

Here is a gallery of his work from today.

I wouldn't think we would see either Cloke, or Richards this year, though it looks like Cameron will miss a few weeks with injured ribs.

Richards is looking more and more like why we shouldn't be worrying about another ruckman in the draft. He's on the list for a reason and MM has said he expects him to break into the side next year. Cloke was a possibility to replace Kinnear until he was hurt, and he also rucks. Steve McKee has been marginalised but we can't say he's finished just yet.

Keep up the good work Dale, it's really good to have a forum to keep us up to date with what's going on at VFL level and especially our fringe players - Weed
