Mooney hasn't been able to put his hand up due to injury but he certainly did today.

I do wonder if Buckley has been waiting for his return before deciding who to upgrade to the senior list.

P.S-If we wanted to upgraded two rookies because of LTI would that mean Ramsay wouldn't be able to play for 8 weeks from the date the elevation took place or would it be from a couple of weeks ago when he was added to the list?
As far as I know, swoop, the LTI listing begins from the date the player is moved onto the LTI list. However, the player named to replace him on the senior list only gets as long as the injured player is out for.

So, for example, given Ramsay was LTI-listed 2 weeks ago (or is it 3?), whoever gets named to replace him will only get 4 weeks instead of 8, because they only get the remainder of Ramsay's 8-week spell (they're only eligible to play from the day they get upgraded, not the day Ramsay was LTI listed).

Does that make sense?[/quote]

Yes thanks!

That's what I figured but I wanted clarification.

Ah, good.

But we might get another LTI if Frost's scans come back as we fear they might...

Thanks for the call magpieBat. Afl site lists Ball as BOG and possible call up next week. Thoughts after his game today?

With the VFL having a bye I think Ball will come into the side as the sub.

Ease him in and get him ready for the following week.

We'll need him against the cats that's for sure.

Now that I know that it would make sense to play him as a sub.....no point in him not getting a run at all , unless of course he has any residual soreness in that hammy in the wash up.

my thoughts
cold and windy at willy
the pies have a problem with lack of leg speed
and lack of defensive pressure when the
oppostion has the ball.
same problem at afl and vfl
paine is not an afl player yet.
he goes to the ground too often
and he constantly gets pushed off his line.
not sure if he will ever make it as he seems to have gone
backwards lately. still he has talent.
the one player i was impressed eith was the irish lad mooney.
i watched him carefully. He has pace!!!!!!!!!!!
he has excellent closing speed when he chooses to tackle.
he can lay a good hard tackle and he is a good kick.
fas and didak got a number of kicks but i will say it again they
lack speed.
ball was ok but nowhere near ready to play afl.
marley willams was ok he is really tough.
cam woods dominated the ruck and it was this area where
we probably lost the game. no hudson!
bring in mooney now we desperately need pace.
sinclair played down back and was a bit ordinary.
we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.

I went down and Was Bloody Freezing. My Thoughts from game

* Paine was Utterly Usless. Did Nothing
* Gault is not a Defender. Put him up Forward
* Mooney was Awsome with 5 Goals
* Sinclair is Usless and Is a Turnover Machine. Can't Kick
* Russel also useless. He is also turned it over way too much
* We had no Ruckman that hurt us in the last qtr
* Our Poor Disposal Cost us the Game in the end

I couldn't watch or listen to this game as I had Greek Easter celebrations today, but I saw on the Collingwood Facebook page saying that Luke Ball was 'outstanding' today or was this somewhat exaggerated?

Great to see that we didn't give up and get blown away in the end. Our final quarter fightback was encouraging. Mooney looks like he'll be in contention for next week and Dids is doing well at the moment.

I wonder whether Ball will be eased back into the senior side against Fremantle next week due to the bye the VFL side has coming up now, or does he need another stint in the VFL?

How did Fasolo, Russell and Sinclair all perform as well?

From my limited view of the game, I don't think I saw Sinclair's name called more than 4 or 5 times after half time. Mason bandied about this stat about Sinclair having "16 1%ers" in the first quarter or so, but you won't hear a bad word about a Collingwood player on the LiveChat, so make of the number what you will. For mine, I'd rather play Yagmoor on current form than see #28 in the seniors ever again, but that's just me.

Russell turned a fair bit of it over, including from kick-outs. Needs an extended run in the reserves unless the injuries get so bad that we just have to play him.

As for Fasolo, well, he did a couple of nice things, even made a great run-down tackle at one point (yes, you read that right, he tackled someone). Was clearly underdone at senior level, but that doesn't excuse how lazy he was also. I think a few more weeks at VFL level is the reality check he needs, as well as the match fitness he requires; we brought him back WAY too soon. But of course, that bloody injury curse could put paid to those plans...

For comprehensive analyis, I recommend the posts of our very own mattys123 and BigFooty poster SchuPie (as well some others) over here:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/v ... 143/page-8

(the reviews start at SchuPie's post about half way down the page, and then the other reviews go on from there)...

With Martin, Oxley and Hudson out it's a pretty good effort to go down by only a kick.

The first two would have been close to our best players over the last month in the VFL.

Not convinced that Ball will make a good sub at this stage. Pick in either team to play but not to sit on the bench as he desperately needs more game time.

Agree Lazza - Sub him out at 3/4 time if he is knackered. But he needs lots of minutes not just 1/4 of footy.
