15. Jarrod Witts

Lockyer Says: Probably one of his better games. Spent a bit of time forward and in the ruck. He led well, is marking the ball well. I was pretty pleased with his effort.

Statistics: 13 kicks, 6 marks, 8 handballs, 21 possessions, 4 tackles, 25 hitouts

Then why do they not Play Witts when Jolly was Injured

27. Ben Kennedy

Lockyer Says: Really dynamic and strong at the contest. Once again his last two or three weeks have been consistent. He has been getting good possession numbers and is hitting scoreboard as well.

Statistics: 17 kicks, 8 marks, 10 handballs, 27 possessions, 0 tackles

Should Play vs Saints

37. Kyle Martin
Lockyer Says: Kyle was really consistent all day. He kicked four goals and his possession rate was excellent. He's playing some pretty good footy.
Statistics: 23 kicks, 9 marks, 13 handballs, 36 possessions, 5 tackles

We need to elevate this guy & give him a chance.

I'm an advocate for Witts to be trialled as our 2nd Ruck and 3rd tall forward role. But IMO he is not ready for No.1 Ruck role before Jolly or Hudson. Unless he is up against a similar experienced ruck or team generally (eg GWS or GCS or Melbourne). Otherwise he is not ready.

witts needs to consistently perform. he has not been a stand out. he has done ok but nothing that suggests we must play him in the afl.

Agree with you although DTM won't agree with me! Witts is on a huge learning curve at the moment and is improving each week at VFL level. But fair dinkum, a tall basketballer could have played well against the Bendigo Gold, they were rather ordinary although they tried very hard.
I would give Witts more time in the VFL against much better opposition before making a comment about senior selection. He'll be a much improved player for it in the end.

This was against a pretty pathetic opposition Dave. Bendigo Gold tried hard but were very ordinary. The standard wasn't high at all so the stats might be a tad inflated...

the thing with witts is he will play 1 good game and then the next 2-3 weeks he plays ok. he needs to be a good player for a few weeks in a row.

even thou witts will most likely play against the gws, gc, dees, dogs.
