It would be fairer to say that Roger Federer played almost flawless tennis.

Yeah and at no time did Australia ever turn its back on him...give the guy a break....Federer played incredible tennis and the Wimbledon was most definately his.....he was the best player of the tournament by far. Well Done Scud and well done Federer

Nobody who makes the final of Wimbledon is a dud Maggie Greg and he did it against the odds. He didn't turn his back on Australia, just didn't want to play in one Davis Cup, but he won us another. Rafter kept missing them through injury, at least Scud helped us to a title. He said the other day he is Aussie through and through. How you like to be called a dud for making the final of a Grand slam.

Grumpy Greg, pull your head in! Three knee reco's... endless bad press... constantly being overlooked in favour of a guy who was so proud to be Australian he chose to live in a tax haven...

You are forgetting he came back to help win us a Davis Cup - on clay. Does that not count?

Now he makes a Wimbledon final and you call the poor guy a dud because he got beaten by a man who was too good on the day, pure and simple.

Have a little generosity of spirit!

Yes Rafter was very adept at the little tax dodges but kept on the right side of the media.

You cant turn on loyalty like a tap. He was disloyal to Australia, I refuse to support him as an Aussie.

I was barracking for Federer.
Big deal if Scud didnt play Davis Cup. I can tell you are a closet supporter of the two Woodies. After all they are two very loyal Australians...lmao Not that there is anything wrong with that. By the way this "disloyal" player won a Davis Cup for Australia....you have a short memory.

Federer is a star in the making if not a star already. Not disgrace in Scud losing to him. On the otherhand if Scud was playing a QUALIFIER who had past his peak as a Tennis player and was mentally fragile and went by the name of Ivanisevic then i would have been disappointed.

Just goes to show how loyal you are to your country Greg, refusing to support your own?? Who cares what you think though, there were enough Australian's and Greek's supporting the Scud and no matter what the results were he's done us Greek Australian's VERY PROUD, you should consider yourselves lucky that the Scud has represented Australia and not bag the crap out of him you DUD! Typical...

Well said Elvira.

Scud from what i heard was gracious in defeat :) He lost to a player who was in great form so there is no shame in that. Federer only lost one set in the whole tournament.

BTW Magpie Greg maybe you have confused the surname Philippoussis with Dokic although this would be understandable given that they are so similar. Dokic is someone who turned her back on Australian Tennis.

Goon on you Mark for playing a great tournament!

Culprit shut the **** up, u have absoutely no idea. He did not turn his back on australia. Id like to see you bloody come back from 3 knee operations, sitting in a wheelchair for months and months and being told that you could not play the game any longer. It's great that he has made such a comeback, and well it seems your a little jealous that poor little lleytin hewitt wasnt it :( awwww
