Post by MagpieBat »

Confirmed in this article on the VFL side in training, our first scratch match is against the resurrected Essendon at Victoria Park on Friday March 8th.

With the Ins and Outs MB, if we don't play finals in the VFL we are doing something wrong. Gone is the prospect of playing 6 ruckman who can't play forward to three guys that can. Throw in quality midfielders I am finally looking forward to a VFL game. :D

^ Agreed, anything less that a final 8 spot is a failure, in my view, and we should at least threaten for a top 4 spot.

There will, however, be a logjam of teams pushing for the top 4. Port Melbourne are still dangerous, even without someone like Dwyer. Geelong are just as strong as last year. Werribee are formidable. Casey and Sandringham should improve.

But if we have a repeat of the horror injury toll that we did this year just gone, then this much vaunted new depth will not save us, because it will be being chewed up by the senior side.

Still, I am looking forward to VFL 2013. Maybe I'll see you at a game or two, Culprit...

I cant friggin wait!

Sad that Shae is gone, but I can see more wins happening in '13.

We had alot of close games in '11 and '12, but a few smashings too.

Will miss Shae, but we've got a much better list going in.

So, are these going to happen or not?

Will the schedule become available, or will the club continue to treat us like mushrooms?

Heard a whisper the VFL team will play a curtain raiser practice match vs AIS prior to Blues vs Tigers in round 1 at the MCG.

Well, I'll answer my own question.

According to the VFL website, we are set to play at least 3 practice matches in the next few weeks.

They are, as follows:

- Saturday, March 9th vs Essendon at Victoria Park, 12:00pm.

- Saturday, March 16th vs Geelong at Kardinia Park, 11:00am.

- Friday, March 22 vs Blues at Princes Park, 4:00pm.

Plus, the now-confirmed practice match against the AIS squad, tentatively scheduled for Thursday 28th at the MCG (thanks for that, mate).

Any senior player who doen't get enough game-time in the NAB Cup may very well play in at least one of these games.

PS: Fans will get the chance of a rare double-header on March 9, with the VFL side playing the Bombers at lunch time, before the AFL team takes on the Lions at Docklands...

That's where I got it from.

Maybe you might have to by a ticket to the Scum vs 9thmond game to see the curtain-raiser.

Of course, the weather might not be good, in which case the VFL game will get re-scheduled.

Like the look of the double-header next Saturday.

Shame the Vfl game starts at 12. Makes it hard for we country folk to get there and see any of it.
