Well, I'm proud to admit I'm dreaming!
Alf, I don't know what you're on but it's not doing your ability to see reason or logic any favours. Some of the comments in your post above are right up there with your "Brisbane won't make the finals this year".
You're entitled to your opinion. You're entitled to be negative if it suits you. Please just don't be totally ridiculous..you're better than that.....with a capital B.

Well ... you'll NEVER get to see him 100% fit if we keep playing him when he's 60% fit.

Alf, I agree with you in part - certainly not the part about Buckley he was magnificent last night (apart from that kick at goal where he said he must have been short on oxygen at the time.)

If that was a 60% fit Bucks with 35 mostly quality possessions - then look out!

I too was screaming out for most of the game "for christ sakes MAN UP!"
The WB seemed to get it down to their forward line time and time again with relative ease.
Lucky their forwards were pretty useless and our guys did a good job in defence.

I listened to Mick Malthouse's post match press conference in which he spent most of his time talking about how good the WB actually were and that they were one of the best running teams going around.

Maybe they are a pretty good team, unlucky not to have won more games.
Otherwise they are ordinary and so are we.

We also should have buried them but for our poor conversion rate.

BUT having said that, a win is a win and lets hope we string together a few more.

That's BS !! No player would get 35 possesions and be only 60 % fit !!

Alf

Surely you are just trying to get a reaction with your posts relating to this match. Yes, we were playing the bottom team and that needs to be kept in the proper perspective, but some of your predictions I and others can only look forward to rubbing back in your face the way you're carrying on.

Well. I won't be rubbing anything in anyone's face when I'm proved right because it won't give me any satisfaction.

Remember that game two weeks ago against Hawthorn?

I do ... I remember it well ... I remember how devastating it was to go away from a game KNOWING beyond all doubt that we are SHIT ... with a capital S.

And I'm here to tell you ... we were NO BETTER last night ... at least after quarter time.

Now I get on here and read a load of absolute bollocks about how friggen wonderful we are because we've beaten the bottom side by 43 points. Jesus. Better get in the queue for your Grand Final ticket right now.

... If I'm not there, start without me.

RIGHT ! It's ON !

Alf i was very surprised with your negativity. Sounding more and more like a Richmond supporter. What do they have to do to make you happy? Give praise where it's due. From reading the sunday papers and all other reports, they don't appear to have the same negativity as you do...in fact, here is a quote from today's herald sun

POSITIVE SPIN
Collingwood: They got back to the form that helped them reach last year's Grand Final and with good goals from Shane O'Bree and Rupert Betheras early opening up new scoring avenues, and players who were down - Jarrod Molloy, Jason Cloke and Anthony Rocca - all got back on track with great games.

Another quote in the article by Mark Harding

....Collingwood has come off the break as it started the season....

Yes, the Bulldogs are an inferior team, but we've also lost to inferior teams this year!

Fine Alf, but more importantly, would it give you any satisfaction to be proved wrong? To be shown the team you supposedly support are better than you keep telling us they are?

Please tell us what they have to do to satisfy you.

We are not the best side in the comp. We have a lot of improvement to make if we're to be a genuine threat. But to say we're Shit with a capital S does neither the club nor yourself any credit. I think it says more about you than Collingwood, actually - Weed

Well ... there you go ... You've floored me once and for all by quoting that Bible of Absolute Truth, the Herald Sun.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that maybe the reason this Club has chronically underachieved for the last 22 years is precisely because we've got a bad habit of believing the crap the papers write about us?

The Herald Sun crawls up our arse because they know they'll sell more papers that way. And they'll sell them to the same lowest-common-denominator wide-eyed fools who are singing our praises after ONE very unimpressive win over a team that is not up to AFL standard. And don't give me that crap that Malthouse said about them. Coaches ALWAYS praise the opposition. It's just part of the mind-games.

So, I'm a Richmond supporter now, am I? That's interesting. Five minutes ago I was an Essendon supporter. A few weeks back I was a Port Adelaide supporter. Would anyone like to REALLY insult me and call me a SYDNEY supporter?

I'll give praise WHEN it's due. I'm sick of making excuses for this rabble. They'll get my praise when they DESERVE it.

And, by the way ... when you lose to an "inferior" team, what does that tell you? Who really IS the "inferior" team?

You sound like a Sydney supporter.

It would give me a LOT of satisfaction to be proven wrong wrong, as a matter of fact. If we come out and beat the Kangaroos next week ... and then Freo ... and we manage to string a few wins together, I'll be there ... in the winner's circle ... JUST LIKE I WAS LAST NIGHT ...

I'd get more satisfaction out of that than a thousand multiple orgasms.

I'd just like to see a consistently successful Collingwood side. A side who's on-field exploits can match the off-field hype. I didn't see that last night. What I saw was a team that is barely capable of beating the also-rans. And then I come on to Nick's and see a whole lot of people who believe their own bullshit.

And as for that last paragraph, Weed ... you've never met me, so don't pretend to know anything about me.

I know you journalists can't help yourselves. You've gotta carry on like you know stuff, when you really know stuff-all. But please. I'm an intelligent guy. So treat me like an equal and we'll get on fine.

No problem Alf. But it seems to me pretty obvious that to call the side Shit with a capital S is overdoing it, and it has to say something about your mindset - more than it does about the club.

The game against Hawthorn was shit. The side is not. There's a difference.

Like you and everyone else, I would like to see a more consistent level of performance. The game next week against the Kangaroos is a far more important barometer than the Bulldogs. I have no problem with that.

I'd also like to think I'm an intelligent guy, regardless of what I happen to do for a living, and certainly regardless of what you happen to think about that. We might well get on fine, but I don't think you're being fair to the players, their opposition, or to others on the bulletin board.

PM me if you wish to discuss it further.

As for the game. (Moving things away from the personal to something we're all interested in.) We won because we had better options up forward and played with greater physicality than we have in weeks. The Bulldogs have a skilled midfield - they actually had more forward 50s than us - and we can thank Buckley, Burns and Fraser again for helping us break even in there. As long as they could do that then the Bulldogs were always going to struggle with match-ups in defence and attack, and that's how it panned out.

That to me seems a more considered appraisal than saying the side is crap and struggled to beat the bottom side. But hey, whaddoIknow, right? I'm just a journalist.

havent time tonight to do match report, will have it done before lunch tomorrow for anyone who wants a read.
I heard on the radio on the way home after the game that Buckley hit a target 24 out of 25 times last night.

Disposal errors? I think not. His disposals were fantastic last night, and even the guys on the radio said that they don't think they have seen him kick better (and that is ever). Buckley played a brilliant game,

Buckley shouldn't be playing. He's not even 60% fit. We made the mistake of bringing him back too soon against Hawthorn and we are going to pay dearly for our impatience.

WHAT!?!? He was BOG, picked up 35 possies, kicked a couple of goals (should have kicked three but shanked one), he hit players 24 out 25 times when he kicked the ball. May I ask Alf, what are you going on about?
