Looks like Geelong will be clear favourites for this match. If we can have a good second quarter we have a big chance of winning this contest.
I'm actually thinking of going to the match before heading off to the G afterwards. Anyone know any good pubs nearby that I could go to after the match and before the big one at the MCG?

^ Any team that plays us in the VFL goes in as clear favourites. It's the Collingwood VFL way!
In all seriousness, though, Geelong only ended up beating us by 2 goals last time, when accurate kicking could have seen us win. Then again, we won't have Beams, Tarrant and Johnson, like we did last time.
Geelong have been at various times excellent, reasonable and poor. They sit in a pretty good spot on the ladder, but have a tendency to beat up on poorer sides, only to go missing or just miss out against the middle-rung and top-rung sides.
A lot will depend on whether or not the "Big O", Orren Stephenson plays. If he does then he will, quite simply, bury Cameron Wood in the ruck.
And if it is pubs your after, Jezza, here's a couple within walking distance of Victoria Park:
- The Retreat Hotel
226 Nicholson Street, Abbotsford (just walk down Turner St to Rich St, down Rich St to Johnston St, cross over to Nicholson St and down Nicholson St a tad. Shouldn't take any more than 10 minutes).
- The Barley Corn Hotel
177 Johnston Street, Collingwood (just walk down Lulie St to Johnston St, then follow Johnston St across Hoddle St until you see it. Again, no more than 10 minutes walk)
- The Laird Hotel
149 Gipps Street, Abbotsford (from Lulie Street, walk to Johnston St, walk to Hoddle St, then walk down Hoddle Street to Gipps St and turn left into Gipps St and walk along Gipps St a little bit. ALTERNATIVELY, take the the train from Victoria Park one stop to Collingwood station, disembark, and proceed into Gipps St from the station.)
And, of course, there is the hotel that is so much a part of our club's history, the Grace Darling, but this one is the hardest to get to.
- The Grace Darling Hotel
114 Smith Street, Collingwood (from Victoria Park, walk down Lulie St to Johnston St, follow Johnston St across Hoddle St all the way to Smith St, turn left into Smith St and walk down Smith St until you arrive at the Grace Darling.)
ALTERNATIVELY, jump onto the train at Victoria Park, jump off at Collingwood station, proceed out into Hoddle Street, walk down Hoddle Street to Langridge St, walk across Hoddle St to Langrdige St on the Collingwood side, walk along Langridge St to Smith Street, turn right into Smith St and proceed north until you arrive at Grace Darling. Saves on a fair bit of walking, does the train!
Or, you could just hitch a lift with someone friendly or drive yourself to any of the above pubs.
Too bad the Yarra Hotel is closed now...

Awesome thanks MagpieBat. Thanks for the directions of how to get to these pubs.
I'll get dropped off at the ground and then walk to one of the pubs and then take the train to Jolimont Station for the big game.

EG: browny browny browny oi oi oi. etc

Means that those on the bench who are playing will be Pendlebury, Sundberg, Williams... and McNamara.Culprit wrote:Hellier, Hine, Doria & Debruin local as permits have been approved. that means they won't be playing.
5 ruckmen. With a 4 man bench.
Terrific. Just terrific.

You are using the term "ruckmen" very loosely there. Bolland isn't playing local as he is injured.MagpieBat wrote:Means that those on the bench who are playing will be Pendlebury, Sundberg, Williams... and McNamara.Culprit wrote:Hellier, Hine, Doria & Debruin local as permits have been approved. that means they won't be playing.

Least the gun Centreman is back in his position. Go Ricardo!!!!! In saying that he may be the sixth forward.
