Australians make hay in the sunshine
Wisden Cricinfo staff - June 17, 2003

Australia's Brad Hodge and Andrew Symonds came close to becoming the first Twenty20 centurians, but both had to be content with guiding their sides to victory.

Hodge cracked 97 off 61 balls and Paul Nixon chipped in with four sixes in a 26-ball 43 as Leicestershire scored 174 for 6, a total which was too good for Yorkshire despite a spirited 71 from 34 balls by Yuvraj Singh.Scorecard

Symonds smashed three sixes and 14 fours on his way to a 37-ball 96 not out as Kent overwhelmed Hampshire at Beckenham, racing to a six-wicket win with a remarkable eight overs to spare. Scorecard

Another Australian, Mike Hussey, made 79 not out off 58 balls to steer Northamptonshire to a 23-run win over Glamorgan. Chasing 160 to win, only Robert Croft (53) offered any significant resistance as Glamorgan were always off the pace. Scorecard
