THE CHAMP!

Post by couragous cloke »

just a little piece i had to do at school.

was bored so i thought i might share it with yall!

BRIAN LARA!

Brian Lara is 1 of the greats of world cricket. Lara holds two of the biggest records a batsmen could ask, by scoring the biggest score in international test cricket (375) and the biggest first class score (501). It sounds amazing when you hear that the man secured the records at just 25 years of age.

Brian was the 7th child of 11 and was boring in Santa Cruz, four miles outside of Port of Spain. He was taken to Harvard club by an older sister when seven for cricket coaching. Former Westindian opening batsmen Joey Carew took him in hand and st 14 he was scoring centuries at Fatima College. He toured India with a schools team an d later captained the West INdies Youth team to the Youth World cup in Australia, and took a B side to Zimbarbwe. He made is debute for Trinidad in 1987-88 and soon showed his class with 92 against the Barbados fast bowlers, Garner and Marshall.

He was Devastated when his father Bunty died in 1988, just as Lara was chosen for the Windies squad for the third test against India at his local Queens park Oval. Unfortunatly he as made 12th mand and did not play.

His test debute came in the final test at Lahore on the tour of India in 1990-91, and he made 44 (at a critical time) and 5. He was on the Tour of England in 91 but was injured and did play. His second appearance was in the Historic first test with South Africa after their return to test cricket in 91-92 he scored 17 and 64.

The following season Lara went to Australia and when the Windies were in deep trouble at 37-2 chasing 507, he scored an amazing 277. The forth highest at the time by a West Indian. He was then runout by Warne Brilliantly.

Later on he helped the Windies beat Pakistan 1-0 averaging 49.

In just a couple of months later, England came to the Windies, they were leading 2-1 in the 5th test, but Lara came in and smashed an unbeaten (to this day) record of 375 . soon after he smashed another record of 501 not out for Warwickshire. another record that has not been beaten to this day.

Since then Lara's form has suffered through commercialism, rows and jealousy. He admits he was losing his appetite for the game. His saviour was Clive Lloyd, who has become a father figure to him.

Lara has regained his enthusiasm and ambition, and Lloyd believed he'd lead the windies in the 21st century, and he's right.

Hey, Clokey, a good read, m8.

When Charlie made his 501 n.o. for Warwickshire, he was dropped by the keeper on 17 just before stumps. The keeper jokingly said to his team-mates, "Blimey, I hope he doesn't go on and get a ton, tomorrow. Haha" Lol.
Donny.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D
