VFL Fixture 2012
The fixture is yet to be released (anyone know when it is coming out?), but from VFLFOOTY.com, we now know that the season will start on the weekend of March 2th and 25th, which is the week prior to the AFL starting proper (only the Sydney v GWS match will be on). The Grand Final will be held on Sunday September 23rd at a yet-to-be-determined venue.
Also, the state game between the TSL and the VFL will be on eith May 26 or 27, possibly at West Park, Burnie.

The VFL are set to release the fixture for 2012, in their words, "in mid-to-late December." The 2011 fixture was released on December 21st 2010, so on or around the 21st this month is my bet.
However, we do have some news on the likely make-up of round 1 next year. From the VFL Facebook page, here's the provisional draw for the opening round of 2012:
Saturday March 24:
Coburg Tigers vs Northern Blues
North Ballarat vs Werribee Tigers
Casey Scorpions v Williamstown (Night)
Sunday March 25:
Frankston vs Port Melbourne
Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
Bye: Bendigo, Collingwood, Geelong
No Magpies footy in the first week of VFL season 2012. Which is also the weekend of the Swans v GWS stand-alone match.
Sigh.

That's the thing: unlike this year, where the fixture listed the TV games (you could easily spot them because they were listed as 1:10pm), this year the TV games are not labelled.Dave The Man wrote:How Many Games on ABC?
Looking at the fixture, though, I would guess that the six 1:00pm Saturday games are potential TV games.

The 1pm games are there for when the AFL teams play that same night.
No TV games have been allocated yet.
And thank God we play the Bullants at Preston, it's a shame that Carlton have basically taken them over and are now the Northern Blues.
They are guaranteed 3 games at Preston each year and this year they are against Collingwood, Port Melbourne and Coburg. Last time Collingwood played at Preston it was the biggest crowd at a Preston game in years.

Presti#1Fan WILL be pleased:
As, for that matter, am I.
http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/newsfea ... fault.aspxIn the meantime, Lockyer is in the process of forming his squad for 2012. Key figures from previous years such as Kris Pendlebury, Joseph Wren Trophy winner Tom Sundberg, Rob Condy and Brett Eddy have all returned for another year.
It will mean the Magpies will have several experienced players ready to be called upon to assist the myrid of developing Magpies.

carlton had to take over the bullants. coz the bullants would of not made it on their own (as they are basically bankrupted)jonesy86 wrote:The 1pm games are there for when the AFL teams play that same night.

the bullants board and supporters had to vote and the vote was to merge with carlton to survive in vfl.
