Round 13 - Sandringham v Collingwood at Trevor Barker Oval

Post by MagpieBat »

2:00PM this Sunday at Beach Road.

VFL Radio are covering the game. Broadcast starts at 1:30PM. Follow the link from here:

http://streaming.gohosting.com.au/bpmmedia.m3u

VFL Radio can also be heard on a digital radio on SEN 2.

Or otherwise, listen on your iPhone/iPad/iPod by downloading the Red Time Sports app from the iTunes store (free).

Sandringham sit in the eigth spot on the ladder (4 wins and 5 losses after 3 byes), while Collingwood sit at tenth (3 wins and 7 losses after 2 byes). A woeful percentage sees us sitting behind Box Hill, who are ninth.

Sandringham are aligned with St. Kilda. Poor Sandy...

Our VFL boys are likely to be bolstered by some serious ins this week. Ben Johnson, Brent Macaffer and Josh Thomas are all likely to return from injury. The return of Dane Swan and Dale Thomas will also see a couple of players taken out of the senior side and possibly return to the VFL. Players such as Alex Fasolo, John MacCarthy, Simon Buckley and Tyson Goldsack are all prospects, as is possibly Jarryd Blair.

It is also conceivable that, with Mumford's suspension, Darren Jolly might be held back from the Sydney trip, and return to the senior ranks via the VFL. However, it is more likely that Cameron Wood will make way for Jolly and return to the VFL.

Among our 2nd stringers, players like Luke Rounds, Tom Young and Lachlan Keefe are all possibilities to debut at AFL level, in line with Mick Malthouse's idea of having a squad of 30+ players ready to contest the finals. So they may be held over as emergencies or debutants for the Sydney match.

We need a win, a BIG win, to beef up our woeful percentage and to stay in touch with the rest of the comp. Our prospects will be made better with the inclusion of some serious firepower from the seniors.

I don't mind telling you, I am STARVING for some Magpie football after the bye, with no Collingwood matches being played at either AFL or VFL level. I wonder who thought that up when crafting the fixture...

Should be a good game. GO PIES!

GO PIES!
It's done like this to give the whole club a rest. Players/officials/coaching staff/volunteers need a weekend where they can totally forget/get away from football, and just relax. Its the most ideal situation for the club.

Depending on my (paid) working situation, I'll be there doing the usual volunteer work. As you've said, few inclusions should make it a more fierce and competitive Collingwood then we've seen consistently throughout this year.

The teams are in:

Collingwood

B Seedsman Gordon Reilly

HB Ugle Rounds Young

C Farmer Johnson MacAffer

HF Fasolo McNamara Eddy

F K. Pendlebury Jolly Bolton

R Keeffe Sundberg Reed

Int Hayes Bull Liston
Millard Smith* Couch
Folino Perham Condy

No Ceglar. If Keefe travels to Sydney with the other emergencies, will Shae Mac be doing the bulk of the ruck to help manage Jolly's return to form?

And STILL no Josh Thomas... :(

Good to see MacAffer & Johnson back. Along with Jolly certainly gives the team some senior talent.

Will Fasolo, Rounds & Keefe be flying back to Melbourne in time to play do you reckon?
Swan is down, Swan kicks the goal! And everything here will be a Magpie celebration!
