Round 10 - Collingwood vs Northern Bullants at Victoria Park

Post by MagpieBat »

2:00PM this Saturday afternoon at Vicky Park.

No radio or TV coverage.

On paper you would say that our 2nds would get done by old Preston. However, the Ants have been struggling a little these past few weeks. In round 7 they only managed a 16 point win over lowly Frankston, went down by 42 points to an incosistent Werribee in round 8 and scraped home by 5 points against the also struggling Box Hill last week.

Last time the two sides met, the Bullants took the honours with a 27 point win at Princes Park. Brad Dick kicked 4 goals that day in an exciting 2nd-half performance from the little fella. We need him to bring this to the party again if we are to get up. He also needs to be played in the proper position as well.

After watching last week's awful capitulation to Coburg, you would be forgiven for having doubts as to our viability in this match. However, some of the efforts from the side over the last few weeks give me some optimism. We just need to put a full 4 quarter effort in.

Playing a 23rd man might also help...

Remember, it's the double feature this Saturday. We get to watch our reserves have a run before the main dance down at the MCG. Just like the old days (except with a bit of changing venues thrown in).

Should be a great day all the same.

GO PIES!

Hopefully Bolton & a few other AFL listed players will be back this week.

A difficult game.

Will be interesting to see who actually plays. Keefe? Fasolo? Both missed heavily last week.

Looking forward, and hoping, to see if big Shae can back up his performance from last week. He will be up against Kruezer throughout the game.

Goldsack needs to find his touch as he was off his game last week. And I thought he was stiff to be dropped in the first place.

Brad Dick also needs to show us something. The challenge is there. We know he can kick goals, but I want to see something from his defensive side. Crack the game open son!!

I'm gonna tip the 'Pies in an upset here. By 7 points.

Good to see Bolton back, Keefe and Fasolo returning certainly improves the side, Blair is stiff to miss a senior game but it'll be good for him to get a full game under the belt.

Pretty handy Bullants side...

Northern Bullants

B Iacobucci Austin Armfield
HB Gianfagna Bower Russell
C O'Keefe McLean Joseph
HF McCorkell Henderson Collins
F Houlihan Kreuzer Robinson
R Meese Ellard Twomey

Int McInnes Carter Marcon
Saad Dare Kerr
McCarthy Bransgrove Arrowsmith
Cachia Thomas Davies

Carlton play Sunday so I/C & emergencies all listed but still a fairly handy goal-goal line.

Got a feeling that we might do better than expected against the Ants this week. As I mentioned above, they have been struggling a little bit in recent weeks with inconsistet or below-par performances against lower ranked sides like Frankston, Box Hill and Werribee.

Interesting to see that we have named a player from our TAC Cup affilliate Murray Bushrangers (Smith) in the extended interchange, whereas Preston have not. Could give us an advantage with regard to rotations if we play Smith under the 23rd man rule.

C'mon Pies, let's have a win to warm us all up for the big dance later tomorrow night!

there is nothing much we can do in vfl this year only 2/3 players have played afl. yesterday there was dick and blair. the bullants had maybe half the team.

all we can do in vfl team is get the players to know the game plan for afl. but the players did play well. pendels had a shocking game

My thoughts on yesterdays game:

Sunny was near BOG again. I am convinced that someone will take him in either the National or Rookie drafts this year.

Blair had a huge defensive game. Made about 300 tackles!! Wont be in the VFL for long.

Fasolo was ok. Kicked a magnificent goal in the third term and continues to impress. May get a gig on Queens Bday.

We started off great but let them score the last 4 goals in the first, but conseeding 8 goals in the third was the down point.

We made alot of mistakes in defence which was disappointing.

Shae didnt back up his great game against Coburg, but there was talk that he was playing with the flu.

I'm worried about Brad Dick. He missed some important goals and hasnt really had a big impact in the VFL this year. I really want to see him chase and tackle some more. He needs to apply more pressure in his game. He did make a good tackle yesterday but he needs to do it more often. (Watch Leon).

Another tough game against Casey next week. Is Fev going to play?? Alot of people will be watching K Pendles after his games on Hall and Kruezer.

^Great to hear Blairy did the hard things in the twos.

How did Keeffe go? Looks like they're rounding out his game by playing him in different positions.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

It would have been nice to hear that someone ran through Fish Lips Kreuzer.
